FFA Cup Round 2 Clash

Our Men's Premier League have already played their first official game for round 2 in the FFA Cup.

The boys travelled to Pluim Park to take on Berkeley Vale SC.

Holroyd started the game extremely well creating a few chances but were unable to convert, as Berkeley Vale settled in they started hold possession and eventually punished Holroyd's poor defence lap with a goal to lead 1-0 at halftime.

To make matter worse for Holroyd they were forced in to their first substitution due to an injury.

Second half started off the same way with Berkeley Vale controlling possession. Holroyd defended well and were able to counter attack well but another forced substitution saw the Holroyd striker also come off due to another injury.

Berkeley Vale scored a controversial goal off a corner were the Holroyd Keeper seemed to be obstructed in the process of catching the ball. Berkeley Vale were up 2-0 now.

Another injury and forced substitution would see all substitutions exhausted 20 mins from full time. With 10 mins remaining Holroyd started pushing numbers forward and were rewarded with a goal to make Berkeley Vale very nervous.

The goal gave Holroyd a sense of confidence and they should have equalised a few minutes later but the shot was deflected and sailed over the bar.

Game ended 2-1 with our boys going down but walking away very proud of their effort against a very strong opponent.
